Our Pyrenees rally was conceived back in 2008 as the ideal follow-up to the first Liège-Brescia-Liège rally for microcars, and was run as Micro Marathon 2009. The route is fantastic, taking in all the best passes in the French Pyrenees, including some almost unknown ones with absolutely breathtaking scenery - and great driving of course, on remarkably quiet roads. Crossing into Spain, we head to the Atlantic coast at beautiful San Sebastian, before heading inland to the wonderful wine region of La Rioja (with a bodega hotel and wine tasting, of course!). Spain's interior has many stunning roads, like the one above, where wildlife is far more plentiful than traffic - we drive some of the finest as we head through this land of castles and passes, crossing south-east to glorious Tarragona, former capital of the western Roman Empire, on the Mediterranean coast. From there we head back up into the Pyrenees through the extraordinary Principality of Andorra, with the rally's highest pass at over 2400m. Returning to France, we traverse some more stunning passes before dropping down to a triumphal finish in the astonishing mediaeval citadel of Carcassonne - uniquely finishing right in the centre of the normally pedestrianised citadel.
Run in 2009 and 2021 for microcars, 2014 for Jaguars, 2021 for Triumph TRs and 2023 for MGs, our Pyrenees rally is a great favourite and will be back soon!
